Diocesan & Payne Smith Church of England Primary School has been on this site since 1957. Between 1849 and 1957 there were two secondary schools and at one time an infant school.
It was a site gifted to the church by a Canterbury resident, for the purpose of education for the children of Northgate.
The site is subject to change again during 2011 and 2012. The proposal is that the school closes in July 2012 and that the Diocese and County provide a new school on the Kingsmead site for the children of Diocesan & Payne Smith and Kingsmead Primary.
This will be an exciting time for the school as we so want to have a bigger site, a field for sports and improved kitchen facilities. The new school will have more children so the opportunities for friendship will improve. Many of the current staff will be part of the new school.
Please follow this site for the latest up dates.
